We emphasize mastery. Your student will start with learning how to write a quality sentence. We then move into developing short answer responses. By the time your student has finished 8th grade or the equivalent thereof, they will have mastered how to write a paragraph.
You will notice that each concept builds upon the previous one.
If you can not write a good sentence, your essays will be terrible! 
On the other hand, if you can write a strong sentence, you have the capacity to convey truth clearly!
